Sheriff Tim Sexton began the Emergency Beacon Program in Lawrence County in 2002. The Emergency Beacon is a light that is placed in outdoor fixtures and lamps to assist emergency personnel in locating your home. During an emergency, every second does count.
The light bulb is placed into an outdoor light fixture or lamp and when the switch is quickly flipped twice, the beacon begins flashing brightly. The flashing bright light does assist emergency personnel in locating your address since they begin observation for the flashing light.
The Emergency Beacons are provided by Lawrence County Sheriff Tim Sexton free of charge to senior citizens and to others who may have disabled individuals living within their residence.
The Emergency Beacon Program is funded solely through donations received by the Sheriff’s Office. If you are a business, organization, or an individual and wish to make a donation to the Emergency Beacon Program, you may simply provide a check payable to the Lawrence County Sheriff’s Office Donation Program.
